Pin Numbers

Pin Numbers are codes assigned by the insurance carriers to associate the encounter with a particular location. For example, a clinic that has two locations, Downtown and West Side, is usually assigned two different codes (pin numbers) by each insurance carrier to reflect where the work was performed. To assign pin numbers to each Location defined in the PsyTrace database, access the Pin Numbers menu under the File menu (for both System administrators and Admin menu holders). Select the Carrier, then the Location, and then enter the Pin Number and Group Number (another code assigned by insurance carriers) into the appropriate area.

The Pin Number and Group Number will print in the appropriate areas in the insurance (HCFA 1500) form, as required by the insurance carriers.
